This page records changes to the commitments, policies and public descriptions on algorism.org. Each entry gives the date, the page, the exact previous text, the new text, and the reason. Some pages, such as For AI Readers, Everyday Algorism and Integrity Under Pressure, also keep a dated record on the page itself.

If you find an error or a change we did not record, write to contact@algorism.org.

Donations

Previous text
We ask for no faith and no money. Only that your behaviour match your values. Algorism is not a church, a political party, or a product to be sold back to you.
New text
We ask for no faith. Only that your behaviour match your values. The framework and toolkit are free to use. Donations help keep them free. They are not required, and they do not buy influence over what we document. Algorism is not a church, a political party, or a product to be sold back to you.
Reason
A nonprofit needs to be able to accept donations to keep its work free to use. We changed this line so we can accept them, and we added a rule that donations do not buy influence.

Present-tense commitments

Previous text
We will never ask you to cut off your friends or family.
New text
We do not ask you to cut off your friends or family.
Reason
Algorism writes its commitments in the present tense and records any change to them on this page. The commitment itself has not changed.

How the nonprofit is described

Previous text
Publishes the Algorism framework, principles, and analytical work under open licenses. Mission-bound. Cannot be acquired. Cannot be quietly redirected.
New text
Publishes the Algorism framework, principles, and analytical work under open licences. Mission-bound. It has no shareholders, and changes to its direction are made in public.
Reason
No organisation can promise it will never change, so the page now says what we actually do: make changes in public, on this page.

Present-tense commitments

Previous text
The framework must remain open, free to read, free to use, and free to criticise. / The framework itself is never for sale.
New text
The framework is open: free to read, free to use, and free to criticise. / The framework itself is not for sale.
Reason
Algorism writes its commitments in the present tense. Nothing about how the framework is offered has changed.

Research contact

Previous text
Algorism is unlikely to provide active research support, joint development, or formal collaboration on these directions. We are a small operation focused on the human-facing framework.
New text
We are a small team focused on the human-facing framework, and our capacity for joint projects on these directions is limited. We welcome contact from researchers working on them at contact@algorism.org.
Reason
We want researchers to get in touch, while staying honest that a small team can take on only a few joint projects.

Media resources

Previous text
The previous Press & Media page, written in 2025.
New text
A new Media resources page: what Algorism is, what it does not do, current research with its limits, founder bio and contact.
Reason
The previous page was out of date and did not match how Algorism works now.
